Implications of Oversized IPv6 Header Chains
نویسندگان
چکیده
The IPv6 specification allows IPv6 Header Chains of an arbitrary size. The specification also allows options that can, in turn, extend each of the headers. In those scenarios in which the IPv6 Header Chain or options are unusually long and packets are fragmented, or scenarios in which the fragment size is very small, the First Fragment of a packet may fail to include the entire IPv6 Header Chain. This document discusses the interoperability and security problems of such traffic, and updates RFC 2460 such that the First Fragment of a packet is required to contain the entire IPv6 Header Chain. Performance Analysis of IPSec in IPv6 Transition Mechanisms
Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the next generation Internet Protocol proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to supplant the current Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). Lack of security below the application layer in IPv4 is one of the reasons why there is a need for a new Internet Protocol. IPv6 has built-in support for the Internet Protocol Security protocol (IPSec). IPS...

In 802.16 standards, PHS suppresses redundant parts of payload header in MAC service data unit. This paper proposes Label Switched Path-Payload Header Suppression (LSPPHS), in which an MPLS-enabled backbone route compresses packets over an MPLS LSP without compression or decompression cycles at each router. It has two main contributions for MPLS-IPv6 header compression. First, LSPPHS adds a new...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of a Header Compression Protocol: The ROHC Unidirectional Mode
The performance of IPv6 in the radio link can be improved using header compression algorithms. The 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) consortium in its technical specification has adopted the ROHC (RObust Header Compression) protocol of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard track for real-time applications using RTP/UDP/IPv6 and UDP/IPv6. This paper presents the analysis of...

Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) defines a new Mobility header that is used by mobile nodes, correspondent nodes, and home agents in all messaging related to the creation and management of bindings. Mobile IPv6 nodes need the capability to identify themselves using an identity other than the default home IP address. Some examples of identifiers include Network Access Identifier (NAI), Fully Qualified Domain...
متن کاملIPv6 Network Security using Snort
IPv6 is new routing protocol. IPv6 is introduced by IETF mainly due IPv4 address exhaustion but it is also an enhanced version of IPv4. There are many changes in IPv6 header, some fields from IPv6 header has been deprecated from IPv6 and some are newly added. There is also common misconception among people that IPv6 is more secure than IPv4, which is not true. Now a day's intruders are targetin...
